I began my journey towards building a new career in May 2024, after leaving the classroom I had called home for 22 years. Yikes--that's right. I stepped out of my comfort zone and began to search for a position that would fill the void within me and my thirst for something more. I made a lot of mistakes, hit deadends, filled out numerous job applications, and even completed courses hoping to increase my appeal to others. Well, that quickly got me nowhere, or right back where I began.

I began to give up hope and turned to the idea of being a virtual educator. I didn't necessarily want to pursue this idea or get up and do the same thing I had done before, but financially I didn't have a choice.

One night, as I sat on my couch perusing job boards and following dead-end leads, I discovered Upwork. Upwork is a platform where projects are posted by many individuals and companies looking to hire for the sole purpose of completing one job. Could this be the answer or at least give me a steady income for the time being? Little did I know that it would be much more than that.
